Autumn hiking days - to the grape harvest in Tramin - South Tyrol

Autumn, the bright colours in the vineyards. Even the sharpest photos can only hint at the natural beauty hidden in this blessed area around Tramin. Hiking through our vineyards and the mixed forest around Lake Kaltern. The sun warms the body and soul. A stop at a Buschenschank or country inn with South Tyrolean specialities and a glass of Traminer wine will recharge your batteries.

During the Autumn hiking days, between 12 and 18 kilometres are covered each day, with a maximum difference in altitude of 500 metres.

Tuesday 22 October:

Anreise 

Wednesday 23 October: From Tramin, through the Rastenbach gorge and to Lake Kaltern

Meeting point at 9am at the "Tramin" Tourist Office. VFrom there we hike up to Söll and on to Altenburg. Our descent to Lake Kaltern begins through the protected biotope of the Rastenbach gorge. Once in the valley, we walk along the lake for a while, continuing through vineyards and apple orchards back to Tramin.

Thursday 24 October: Bolzano - Kohlern - Schneiderwiesen (option A)

8.45 a.m. Meeting point at the "Tramin" Tourist Office. We travel to Bolzano by public transport. From there, we take the cable car to the summer resort of Kohlern. We hike from "Bauernkohlern" to "Herrenkohlern" as far as the Schneiderwiesen meadows. You return to the mountain station and Bolzano via meadows and forests. After the adventurous hike, your hiking guide will take you into the centre of Bolzano's old town. During an individual exploration tour, you will experience the historic buildings and charming alleyways of the city of Bolzano.

Thursday 24 October: Adventure on the Fennberg (option B)

Meeting point at 9am at the "Tramin" Tourist Office, from there we take the bus to Kurtinig. The unforgettable day full of thrills begins with a thorough safety briefing from our experienced mountain guides. Secured by footbridges and steel cables, you climb along the rock faces while enjoying the breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape. After the climb, a delicious picnic in the midst of nature awaits you. Please note that this excursion requires a moderate level of physical fitness and is not suitable for people with a fear of heights. We will provide you with the climbing equipment.

Friday 25 October: Hike in the "Bletterbach" Gorge

9a.m. Meeting point at the "Tramin" Tourist Office. The bus to Radein takes us to the Geomuseum, where we are shown what we can discover on the following hike. Exciting details about the various rock formations and fossils are provided by informative boards along the way. 

Saturday 26 October: canyoning tour in the Rio Sass

Meeting point at 9am at the "Tramin" Tourist Office. We take the bus to Fondo, where the hike through the world of the Rio Sass Canyon begins. You will be guided through geological diversity, fascinating gorge landscapes and lush vegetation. Admire thundering waterfalls, explore narrow rock formations and immerse yourself in the mystical atmosphere of the gorge, which the Rio Sass torrent has shaped over thousands of years. Please note that this excursion requires a moderate level of physical fitness.

Closing evening:

After the eventful days of hiking through the South Tyrolean countryside, a wine tasting and a traditional Traminer Marende awaits you in the wine bar of the A. von Elzenbaum winery.
